School Girl Chic

Think detention, recess, and excuses like “the dog ate my homework”

  • The founding of the primary education system began in 425 AD
  • Preppy fashion began in the late 1940’s and 50’s
  • It’s time for you to go watch The Breakfast Club

What to expect:

  • Skirts
  • Sweaters
  • Collars
  • Cardigans/Leather Jackets
  • Tons of metal accessories

School Girl Chic is…

  • rebellious
  • geeky
  • preppy
  • clique-breaking
  • accessorized
  • posh

How to wear it

This may be my personal favorite of all the Fall/Winter 2012 trends. It’s the easiest look to put together, and anyone can pull it off. Simply start by dressing preppy in the most cliche way possible, then, replace some items with edgy, rock star inspired pieces. This is Ms. Valedictorian- was-caught-smoking-behind-the-bleachers-and-had-a-whole-lot-of-fun-in-detention. Mix a pleated skirt and a collared button up with a black leather jacket and combat boots. Wear a collared dress with a belt cinching the waist, and an over sized plaid jacket on top. Basically, do 80’s prep meets 90’s grunge and you’ll do just fine.

Best colors

  • Black
  • White
  • Pastels
  • Gray
  • Gold
  • Silver

How you do it

Will you try this prep-meets-rebel style?
